Claim your agency's FREE listing on the TrustedChoice.com consumer-facing agency locator

The Big “I” is excited to announce the launch of an all-new TrustedChoice.com — a now free, consumer-facing agency locator where insurance shoppers can search for independent agents in their area. Every Big “I” member gets a listing included with their membership. No subscription. No fee. No opt-in required.

Same URL. Entirely new mission.

Earlier this year, the Big “I” Board made the decision to divest the assets of TrustedChoice.com. As part of that arrangement, the Big “I” retains the TrustedChoice.com name, and on June 1st  we’re relaunching it as a free member benefit. This new site is now fully owned and managed by the Big “I” and is no longer utilizing a subscription model.

To make the most of your free listing, the admin for your company will need to log in and update your agency profile — particularly the coverages you provide — to ensure consumers can find you accurately. Full details about the new site and instructions on how to update your listing can be found at trustedchoice.independentagent.com/agency-locator

ZOOM SCAM ALERT!

We have been getting reports from members of scam attempts using the new Trusted Choice Agency Locator Tool. Below are some best practices to share with everyone in your agency to help protect your agency's data while preserving the benefits of this brand-new member tool.

The "Zoom meeting scam" is a prevalent phishing campaign where cybercriminals pose as potential clients to send malicious meeting links. When clicked, the link silently installs malware, harvests login credentials, or pushes unauthorized surveillance software onto the victim's device.

As an insurance agent, you are a primary target for Zoom phishing scams because your contact information is public, and you frequently handle high-value financial transactions, sensitive personal data, and remote client onboarding. [1, 2 ]

Scenario: The Scammer Poses as a Client (Targeting You)

This is a highly active corporate phishing tactic designed to compromise your agency's network.

The Setup: You receive a lead via Trusted Choice Agency Locator (or email, social media, your website contact form). The email from "Big I Agency Locator" contains the contact information and details of a consumer who wants to connect with your agency.

The Refusal:   You contact them, and they show interest in purchasing a policy but will only communicate through Zoom or Teams via a link they send to you

The Attack: If you click their link, it lands on a cloned, malicious Zoom waiting page. A prompt will tell you that your audio isn't working or your browser is out of date, asking you to click an "update" or install a browser plugin to join.

The Goal: Doing this installs info-stealing malware. The scammers steal your email passwords, session cookies, and software credentials to intercept premium wire transfers or access your clients' sensitive personal and financial data.

If you have received one of these emails and clicked on the link the “client” sent you, you need to contact your IT provider immediately.

Best Practices for Your Agency

Enforce an "Agent-Hosts" Policy: Never click a video conferencing link provided by a stranger. Tell prospects: "For data security and compliance, company policy requires that our agency hosts all virtual client consultations."

Qualify Over the Phone First: Insist on a brief, 5-minute phone call to gather basic details before scheduling any video consultations. Fraudsters usually refuse to speak on a standard phone line.

Block In-Meeting Downloads: Instruct your staff to never download attachments, plugins, or software updates pushed through a video chat window or an unfamiliar email link.
